From John Patterson:
I am planning to run a week long trip to the Dolomites staying in Val di Fassa
We will fly out to Venice on 7th September 2021 and return on the 14th September.
Ample walking is available of all standards from via ferrata to C minus, I will be doing non-technical walks at rambling club B standard. https://www.fassa.com/EN/Sport-and-activities-in-Val-di-Fassa--Trekking/ gives information
I will book the hotel and the transfers between Venice and the hotel, but I will not book the flights. The transfers will assume
· Easyjet flight EZY7061 from Liverpool to Venice Marco Polo departs Tuesday 07th September 2021 09:45, arrives Venice at 13:10
· Easyjet flight EZY7062 from Venice Marco Polo to Liverpool departs Tuesday 14th September 2021 13:45, arrives Venice at 15:15
I am planning on the hotel we stayed at in 2018, but have yet to contact the hotel.
The hotel (Hotel Cima Dodici) in Vigo di Fassa is about as good a centre as it gets. The hotel should be about the same price as last time, in 2018 the price in half board per day and per person in double room are euro 55,00.- and in single room euro 62,00.- plus euro 1,00.- per day for the curt tax. The food was an excellent 5 courses.
If I can’t book Vigo there I will see about finding somewhere of similar price perhaps in Val Gardena (Ortisei), as it is the only major dolomite valley I have not stayed in.
Mountain rescue is not free in Italy, so you will need appropriate insurance; my annual holiday insurance includes trekking up to 2500 meters, but you need to check you are covered.
